Why W.I.S.P.A.
Wellness * Invigoration * Suppleness * Prevention * Activation
Welcome to my site! My name is Rebecca and I am a married mother to two beautiful girls, two crazy dogs and two lovely horses, and I live in East Devon. I am also the founder of W.I.S.P.A Equine Sports Therapy.
I have always loved horses. I started riding at the age of 5 and at the age of 11, I was bought my first pony.
Over the years, I've studied a number of different equine qualifications including an Advanced BTEC National Diploma in Equestrian Business Management, alongside my BHS Stage 3, and I've also assisted in running a riding school in London.
After a bit of time away from horses, living abroad, getting married and having children, I decided to retrain and take a career in helping improve horses well-being, by way of massage and other holistic therapies.
So in 2016, I spent two years successfully studying and qualifying as an ICAT (Institute of Complimentary Animal Therapies) Equine Sports Massage Diploma and Rehabilitation Practitioner. The massage treatment is a mix of McTimoney and Sports Massage techniques, offering a gentle but effective massage treatment, assisting in an improved way of movement and general well being of your horse.

As a registered member of ACAT (Association of Complimentary Animal Therapies) you can also be assured that I am bound by a code of ethics and practice. As well as fully qualified and insured, you can be confident that your horse will be treated professionally, and with care and consideration.
I am always looking into additional ways to improve and expand my skill set within holistic therapies to find ways to increase the benefits and results of bodywork sessions. So I was really interested when I came across the world of Kinesio Taping, which offers a range of additional benefits to the horse. So in addition to Sports Massage, I am now really pleased to now be trained in:

Foundation and Advanced Masters Level in Equine Kinesio Taping
Equine Cupping
Gua Sha Massage (Fascia Blades)
Trigger and Stress Point Therapy

Each of these modalities acts as an effective extension or tool to maximise the benefits to a bodywork session, or equally, as an individual holistic session of its own.
I am also very excited to be the first person in the Southwest to offer Equine Salt Therapy.
I started Salt Therapy in 2021, due to my own horse struggling with skin issues, of which I had spent years trying to manage but to little effect. After a lot of research and hearing about the healing properties salt therapy offered, but not having anyone local who covered the area to treat my horse, I decided to buy a machine for myself. Once I started using the Salt on my horse, I didn't look back. I then spent 6 months treating friends horses suffering from varying degrees of skin or respiratory ailments. In addition to the reviews and information I had read on this therapy, I found that the results I was seeing personally, were equally impressive. So in 2022 I added Salt Therapy to my business. The rest is history as they say, and I now have an ever expanding clientele who are seeing the benefits to their horses by using an effective, natural and drug free alternative to managing the symptoms of respiratory and skin issues. The added advantage is that Salt Therapy also offers the potential of improved lung function and reduced levels of stress! So it's great for competition horses and helping with recovery after an event too.
The horses seem to enjoy their time in the salt sessions, so its a winner all round.
